How much space does a photo booth need?

Space, power, Wi-Fi, and setup time for each of our photo booths, plus where to put the booth so your guests actually use it.

The short answer: about 10 by 10 feet for The Foundation Express, The Match, and The Mirror, and about 15 by 15 feet for The Moment. The longer answer is below, along with the few other things your venue will ask about.

Space, booth by booth

  • The Foundation Express, The Match, and The Mirror: about 10 by 10 feet. That covers the booth, the backdrop, the lighting, and room for guests to pose. Working with less? We can make these three fit smaller spaces, so tell us what you have.
  • The Moment: about 15 by 15 feet. The 360 camera arm circles your guests, so it needs clear room to spin safely all the way around.

Power

A standard outlet near the booth is all we need. If your venue has limited power, or your event is outdoors, tell us when you book. We bring our own battery power, so we can run without an outlet when we know ahead of time.

Wi-Fi

Guests get their photos on their phones during the event, and that takes an internet connection, so we ask every venue for Wi-Fi.

  • The Mirror has its own cellular connection, and we still ask for Wi-Fi as a backup.
  • The Match and The Moment can run on your concierge's cellular hotspot if there's no Wi-Fi, but delivery then depends on the signal.
  • The Foundation Express needs venue Wi-Fi to send photos instantly.

Setup and breakdown

We arrive at least 2 hours before the booth opens, so everything is ready before your guests are. Breakdown takes about an hour after the booth closes. If your venue has set load-in or load-out times, send them our way and we'll plan around them.

Where to put the booth

A great spot makes a big difference in how many guests use the booth. A few things we look for:

  • Near the action, out of the walkway. Next to the dance floor or the bar works well. In front of the doors or the buffet line doesn't.
  • Room for a short line. Leave space for a few guests to wait without blocking a path.
  • Out of direct sun. Our studio lighting does the work, and steady light keeps every photo consistent.
  • A flat, level surface outdoors, plus a plan for shade or rain.

What to send your venue

Before your event, make sure your venue knows:

  1. The space the booth needs, from the list above.
  2. That we'll need an outlet nearby, or that we're bringing battery power.
  3. The Wi-Fi network and password for the booth.
  4. When we'll arrive to set up.

For weddings and brand events, we coordinate this with your planner and venue for you, including any certificate of insurance the venue asks for.
